What Is The View South?
The View South is a rooftop, modular event platform rooted in Chicago’s South Side—designed to host rotating cultural experiences and invite the neighborhood to host alongside us.
We program a flexible rooftop environment for films, markets, music, exhibitions, and gatherings—building moments that feel intentional, social, and worth showing up for. Some nights we host. Other nights, we make space for collaborators, creators, brands, and neighbors to host with us.
At its core, The View South is about bringing people together through shared experiences, framed by the city we love.
Where the Name Comes From
The name The View South is literal—and personal.
We are geolocated south of Chicago’s skyline landmarks. The Willis Tower sits north of us. When you stand at the top of the city and look in our direction, we are the view south.
That perspective matters.
When we look up, the skyline is beautiful.
When the city looks back at us, we are beautiful too.
The name reflects a shared line of sight—between where we stand and where we’re headed. It’s about place, orientation, and pride. Even when we’re looking north, upward, and forward, this is us. That point of view is baked into the brand.
Built on Experience
The View South didn’t appear overnight.
It’s the result of years spent building, operating, and supporting cultural experiences across Chicago—often behind the scenes. We’ve helped run events, activations, and programs for brands and communities you already know and love.
Those experiences shaped how we think about:
Hospitality
Programming
Operations
Partnerships
And what it actually takes to make a space feel alive
This platform is the next evolution of that work—bringing everything together, under the open sky.
